If you ever need anything to remind you that maybe your life isn't that difficult, watch this look at the life of the Aran Islanders, existing on a barren and dangerous landscape, as they live from what the sea gives and takes. It's also worth mentioning that the film was intended to be a commercial product, and not just a documentary, so there should be a little bit of tolerance for the dramatic soundtrack and the title cards used for the film. It would be just as powerful a statement without them. Flaherty's work is an important part of documentary filmmaking and should be seen at any opportunity.
