It is refreshing to hear a book narrated by the author himself. One hears the words as well as the emphasis and emotion the author intends for his words. The recording is better than reading the book.

The content is well chosen for relevance to current issues and the author is an expert in the study of the Islamic world. He has an unbiased approach that instills trust in the reader. He is not grandstanding on an emotive subject. The most important part of the book for me was the authors' discussion of the strong role history plays in Islamic societies, more so than for other societies or religious traditions. He clearly understands the origins of instability in the Islamic world, distills it for the reader and conveys it in an engaging way.
