Absolutely breathtaking. The on-screen chemistry is smoldering and is best enjoyed alone or with anyone you don't feel uncomfortable watching sex scenes with because WOW, just WOW. Devastating ending but it was right and brutally realistic. Keep tissues at the ready.

"Swept Away" is Director Lina Wertmuller's most famous and controversial film. Beautiful cinematography. It is a film about ideas. Hollywood would never produce such a film. Since there are no comparable films, I would rate "Swept Away" (with Giancarlo Giannini and Mariangela Melato) at 5.0 stars.

Huge disappointment. Story line?, males ruled the women. The 2 lovers get shipwrecked, thought for sure there would be romance. If you're into a male being abusive, filthy language and the woman loving every minute of it that she's begging to stay with this married man. Couldn't finish it. Guess I'm not into trashy film.

This is a 1974 Italian comedy-romance written and directed by Lina Wertmüller.
It is about a wealthy woman whose yachting vacation with friends in the Mediterranean Sea takes an unexpected turn when she and one of the boat's crew are separated from the others and they become stranded on a deserted island.
The woman's capitalist beliefs and the man's communist convictions clash, but during their struggle to survive their situation as well as their social roles are reversed.
Although you will certainly laugh your head off, there is something serious in the story.
It is a hilariously funny and profoundly amusing film---one of the best Italian movies.

This movie is VERY entertaining. But if you really pay attention, there is a lot more than meets the eye. And it is not about feminism, either. It is about letting go, completely. If you only dare. Maybe not the best movie for NE?

Slightly disturbing Italian film that examines class warfare.
