Journal entries depict the hardships of a neglected teen forced to be the adult when her parents refuse to be responsible. Mrs. Dunphrey is a wonderful teacher who tricks Tish into saving herself and her brother from abusive parents. This is a quick read that will enlighten the reader on the hardships of poverty. It is a wonder that we expect students to care about a worksheet when they may not be eating outside of the school walls.

I picked this up at 4pm on a lazy day... I was NOT expecting this. This book is such a page-turner! It deals with some intense and mature emotions which can definitely happen to a teen realistically in real life. The characters were very believable and dynamic, and the pace of the plot was perfect.

I found myself blankly wandering from place to place in the house when called by my parents throughout the rest of the day, book in hand, nose in book.

Finished at 9pm. This was a very nice quick read. I definitely recommend this for all teens.

This is a very intense book. I thought the storyline was so good, although kind of sad, but definitely something people can relate too. I enjoyed it and found it left me thinking about the characters for a long time!!
