I don’t believe I have ever read such a peculiar book. I don’t mean that in a bad way, but it’s impossible to describe. The highlights for me were seeing multiple cameos from Stoker’s Dracula and Doyle’s .

This book was written as an alternative to the traditional Dracula story. I thought it was put together well and I loved the way fictional characters were mixed in with historical characters.

This is one of the more creative novels in the vampire genre. In fact, it is one of the novels that launched the genre. The story felt at once familiar and very unique because of the characters that are known and loved but re-imagined. Furthermore, the novel has something for everyone: politics, romance and horror. If you like steampunk and vampires, this is one to pick up. Although it doesn't feature the neat technology prominent in many steampunk novels, there is the re-imagination of Victorian Britain which is so often found in the genre and so enjoyable.
