SUMMARY: A child tucked into bed delays going to sleep, needing reassurance of his/her mother's love. The youngster asks, "Would you still love me....if I were a big scary ape?" or "a super smelly skunk" or "a terrible meat-eating dinosaur."

ILLUSTRATIONS: The illustrations are colorful, creative, inventive and absolutely delightful. Kids are going to love love love them! My favorites were the swamp creature and the cyclops versions of the child.

REVIEW: First off, the child in this story could pass as either a boy with longer hair or a girl. I think this story could be read to both especially since the child looks to be 4 or 5 years old. I loved the creativity and imagination of this story. The child would come up with a "What if I were..." something possibly hideous question and the mother would come back with an equally creative and a loving response. The mom really gets into using her imagination. This is a sweet and beautiful bedtime story for the younger crowd.

AGE RECOMMENDATION: Ages 4-8. Bedtime story and read along for the younger ones and as an independent read for the older kids. All ages will love the illustrations!

Love this, a great way to have a loving book to read with my son and he gets a kick out of me reading "stinky face" :). Nice to show him that sometimes words that can be said to hurt someone can be said in a different context. I like this type of book.

Both my daughter and I love the book. It is always great to reassure our children of our love for them.

Great story about a mother's all encompassing love for her child!

Beautiful story and illustrations. My four year old has asked me to read it to her six times in the last two days. Reminds me of an updated "Runaway Bunny" by Margaret Wise Brown, author of "Goodnight Moon".
