‘The Invisible Library’, the first book in a series of several, struggled to seat comfortably in my mind as a compelling story, for numerous reasons. The premise of the book, or rather the central authority, ‘The Library’, struggles as a…

Super fun magical spy-esque fantasy.I found the book slightly repetitive and could have used some editing down, but all in all quite fun and I look forward to seeking out the other books in the series.

A roller coaster of a ride. A fantastical romp through a magical steam punk London with spies and dragons and detectives and airships. Fast paced and enjoyable.

This series has the speed of YA fantasy and the contextual maturity of adult fiction. I'd recommend it to anyone making the transition from YA to Adult, especially if they grew up loving Harry Potter or Eragon. I'd appreciate more queer…

I picked this up based on its title and was intrigued from the synopsis. Reminded me of the wanderers library from the SCP universe. This has been one of the first books in a while to really keep me hooked and wanting to read more and…

Meh… I'd wanted to read this series for so long but couldn't find the audio version until recently. I was thrilled when I found it available on Scribd. What a disappointment! The author took an intriguing concept then muddled it up by…

Recommended by a book critic friend. Hard to begin, but soon I was there in this London alternate with the mains and off and running. Beginning book two .

It sounds like readers either love it or hate it and I really wanted to love it since it’s a big series but I hated it. I couldn’t get into it. Irene and Kai are secret agents of the Library which is a secret society that collects rare…

I had this on my TBR; however, I wasn't sure how excited I was to read it. And now I'm stoked I did. This is the first of a unique Fantasy Series which includes alternate European worlds, Dragons, Magik, the Fae and Librarians who are…

A young alternate-universe-hopping, book-collecting librarian finds herself mixed up with the deeper questions, dangers, and conspiracies of the Invisible Library in this series intro full of dragons, fey, and Doctor Who-vibes.

Irene is a Librarian, but not like any you will find down at your local lending library.

This was a great book. The characters, plot and world were complex and entertaining. I will definitely be reading the other books in the series.

I really enjoyed this. It was simple and entertaining, and had a bit of Gail Carriger humor. I didn't realize it was a series but I look forward to reading the next books.

The book was: fascinating, surprising, funny with a dry sense of humor, insightful ideas about librarians and libraries, just a tad too long but worth the time to finish it. I'm ordering the next in the series! If you want to try a new…

When a Library connects alternate worlds encompassing magic and technology, anything can happen. In this case we have a hunt for a rare book, a murder mystery, and Librarian rivalry all mixed together with an ease that makes the story…

It’s always nice to see book-loving librarians as heroes, although their lives in this book are more like that of Noah Wyle and the staff of the television show, “The Librarians.” *The Invisible Library* is a fun first novel, with plenty…

I was so delighted, after giving this book a try, to discover an entirely new world concept within this genre. It is a little difficult to pinpoint the genre, actually, as The Invisible Library has elements of fantasy, science fiction,…

I really enjoyed "The Invisible Library" for fast-paced action, great heroine, interesting and intriguing world, and good story. It's a solid summer read! And Cogman left enough unanswered questions (especially about the world of The…

This book, and its sequels, is composed of many parts that appeal to me: librarians, hidden libraries, secret societies, multiverses, time/space travel, strong female lead (in fact, it skirted dangerously close to the Thursday Next series…

I discovered this author with book 3 and have returned to the first to learn the background. I agree with others that the plot isn't as tight in this first book, but hold in there because the third is a whammy and the pen is polished! A…

I was pulled in at the beginning by Irene's fast-paced escape; however, I quickly got bogged down in too much detail. I couldn't help feeling like I was reading an unedited script of The Librarian. Hardcore SciFi fans may love it, though.

3.5 stars. If I wanted a quick way to describe this book, it would likely be "Harry Potter-ish". I really liked the strong female protagonist and the eccentric cast of supporting characters. The bibliocentric concept was really fun (the…
