I really enjoyed reading this book about 1/2 the way through because of its ‘uniqueness’; however, I soon lost interest because of Victoria’s obstinance. I got tired that she wouldn’t even try to modify her negative behavior or see the…

A really lovely coming of age tale that tugged on my heartstrings and had me rooting for the characters right until the end.

It’s a challenging and at times bittersweet story with lots of imperfect characters through out. It was a journey worth taking!

October WPL Book Club selection: Victoria is extremely lucky to have very understanding, patient people in her life.

Sort of Jennifer Haigh lite (no small praise), but it's a first novel so Diffenbaugh will most likely only get better. I got instantly and thoroughly emotionally involved in this book and the characters felt immediate and real to me. My…

I found The Language of Flowers interesting reading, although it took me a long time to finish this book. Too many interruptions but always easy to pick up again. There were times I did not like Victoria, but under the circumstances in…

What a wonderful book! Who knew that one could use flowers to communicate the most important things in life, like good luck=white heather, or devotion=red peony? Victoria made her way out of a life of foster care into adulthood by…

I especially enjoyed how this story was weaved through the language of flowers dictionary. Was not able to put this book down until after the middle section, when the story diverged from the flower dictionary and did slow a little. It all…

I loved the highlighting of the importance of mother-daughter or mentor as mother relationships in this book. The dictionary of flowers and their meanings was also very enlightening.

I enjoyed this book. The story kept me guessing and though Victoria's self sabotaging was difficult, it was also understandable and relatable. It is a good reminder that even one positive influence in a child's life, no matter how brief,…

This book was a reminder to me that people are the product of their experiences. On one hand Victoria is hard to relate to, yet on the other easy to understand. She is a survivor. An interesting and enjoyable read.
