"Pranzo di Ferragosto" ("Mid-August Lunch") -- concise and gentle film covering about 24 hours on an August holiday in Rome when a loving son finds himself entertaining four elderly women, one of whom is his mama.

Charming story of a man in Rome who ends up taking care of four elderly women for the weekend. Friendship and family are the focus-- as is the food. Highly recommend!

Lovely, quirky, charming story set in the dog days of summer in Rome. Di Gregorio is perfect as the polite son - in fact, it's a comedy of manners, in a way. The four women are brilliant. Trivia: it's filmed in Di Gergorio's actual flat in…

Reminiscent of 1990’s "The Company of Strangers" in structure if not plot, Di Gregorio enlists a cast of personable amateurs to create this beautifully warm-hearted comedy that ever so lightly touches on issues of loneliness and human…

Very sweet and homey storytelling of four very different elderly women suddenly housed under one roof. The women bicker and befriend each other; subtle detailing of their life histories without becoming maudlin. The main caregiver, a…

How many movies star women in their late 80's and 90's? I liked the Italian ambiance. It's a mini-vacation

I'll concur w/the comment below: This movie feels like it takes forever. It's definitely slow going. There's some good points, like how it illustrates the relationship difference of adult American men and their mothers vs. Italian men…

A beautiful charming movie where none of the actors seem to be acting. Everything seems spontaneous and real. Very warm with an authentic charm. The ladies were outstanding as was actor/director Gianni De Gregorio and his pal "the Viking".…

Senza dubbio, “Pranzo di Ferragosto” mostra l’altro lato delle ferie, e per questa stessa ragione, la trama è un po’ lenta.

Sigh. One would like to report that this little, meandering movie about a middle-aged, dutiful son and his time spent in his large, meandering flat in Rome with 4 little old ladies has enormous charm, atmosphere, and gentle humor, as…

A superb, low key, low budget film with non professional actors about life in Rome for the elderly... A must

Beneath the situation-comedy-type story of a man tending a group of elderly ladies is a glimpse into lives that have been greatly diminished. There are amusing moments but to say this is hilarious is to overlook the reality of these…

A hilarious movie but the humour is subtle. The timeline is actually quite short but can feel like it takes forever but then it just jumps out and grabs you again. Parts of this seem quite sad but then it takes you further into the humour.

A quaint "real life" type story. Not a movie that would apeal to the Notrth American Box Office, nor a great number of its viewers, but a slightly humourous look at one of lifes predicaments. Worth the watchibg!

wonderfully real story of a caregiver and his 3 charges on a midsummer holiday weekend in Italy. The special features develop the story further.

A lovely film of an ordinary but so sincere life. This is not for viewers who like Hollywood-style, mainstream movies, which usually come with a distinct storyline. Like in many other Italian films, this is a film about life, how…
