Slow going until the third chapter then it was fast-paced and suspenseful. The plot became implausable by the end - but it was nevertheless an enjoyable read.
A chance for Baldacci to create a new character (although assassin doesn’t stray too far from his earlier main characters). No surprises in the story and plot lines, you’ve read or watched this before. I also was very disappointed with the reveal at the end. Baldacci didn’t have to go there. It would have been a better ending if he would have used more creativity. The ending felt cheap, like he ran out of ideas, or his publisher made him wrap it up like that. It’s a shame because I was engaged in the mystery up until then. This is a tough one to score. I’d probably pick up another book with this character but this story had its faults, sadly at the end.
Another hit (pardon the pun) from Baldacci. Also hope characters will be seen again soon.
Baldacci introduces us to Will Robie & after you finish this book, you'll be hoping it's the first of a new series. This is a complex political thriller & a bonafide page turner you won't be able to put down. Just when you think you know who the good guys are, they change sides. Hope we see more of Robie & Julie, too. He could use a little sanity in his life.
He's no Jack Reacher but Will Robie is an interesting character. Good read!
The Innocent --- by David Baldacci --- Boy, that David Baldacci. He sure can write. I guess he’s probably written a whole truckload of books. And I’ve only just started reading him. And the good thing about that is I’ve got a whole heap of good reading still ahead of me. Adventure. Shoot ‘em ups. What more could anyone who was weaned on sixty-minute TV shows like NCIS and Hawaii Five O ask for? The plot twists and turns. Just when you think you’ve got a bead on who’s done what it turns out you don’t. That’s what “The Innocent” is like. It’s been a looooong time since I’ve torn through a book as fast as that. Read it.
Very good book. It's a bit lengthy but intriguing story that you can't put the book down. Liked the main character.
Enjoyed the book. Will read more from this author for sure.
Pretty complicated political thriller with half a dozen of major characters, but page turner nonetheless.
