Add a CommentMichael Connelly always writes a great book and I enjoyed it just as much as any other Connelly story. Interesting ending.
good read, a little forced at parts but really liked the premise and how it works out, while the main story becomes secondary!
Feels like Connelly is nearing the end of Harry Bosch. I will miss Heironymous, if this is so. Great character, if a little pale in this rendering. Story is anemic, but with a powerhouse like Connelly writing, there is still plenty of texture to invite and satisfy.
I've read all the Harry Bosch novels and really enjoyed this one ! No, it's not the best Bosch story, but it brought up things that Harry needed to address and the plot was excellent.
You will like Michael Connelly. Read all of his books.
This book is written with as much pathos and soul searching as a great pianist who knows how to deliver Chopin. It leaves you wondering just how those who do the police work we pretty much take for granted ever manage to get their hands clean after a day's work.
Connelly's getting lazy. This is an old story with highly successful mystery writers. They start cranking them out to meet contractual deadlines and the results are, well, predictable. I found this one B-O-R-I-N-G and Bosch seemed cut from cardboard, unlike the complexity he showed in the earlier HB books. I put it down half way through. Hard to understand why Publishers Weekly thought it was "deeply satisfying." Hardly.
Connelly is one of my favorites. Bosch is a great flawed character, even if he is getting long in the tooth. It might be time for retirement Harry. Not the best in the Bosch books, but not the worst either.
Its a goody
I enjoyed this book, but it lacked some kind of action. Is Connelly going to retire Bosch? I hope not, but reading this book makes me feel I've seen the last of Bosch.:(:(
