This song plays during a pivotal revelation in the film. This song is so cool like that.

Comment
Add a CommentI watched this because of Bert's recommendation of the soundtrack, and so thought it might be cool. Whoa was I wrong. Bad acting, horrible cinematography (like a two-decade-old-tv-show), and a story line that has been seen 100's of times before (rich kid thinks he can get away with anything 'cause he's rich, and I would like to say he got his in the end, but 1: You knew the whole story from the first 3 mins, and 2: the end was wrapped up in a totally silly way (gee, some guy in hospital for 1 day and when he get's out the bad-guy has already been sentenced to the death penalty.) This is truly a pathetic movie. And by the way, that supposedly great soundtrack? Not one song plays for more than 15-20 seconds, leaving us to view the stupid camera shots and listen to the vapid writing. And as for the character being slick or charismatic, he is neither. He's an oaf who dumped his wife but still expects her to cover his a** which she dutifully does.
Matthew McConaughey has never impressed me on chat shows and especially after watching Sahara, a glossy but dreadfully commercial flick he starred in. I see him as a smart aleck with abs, a presumably winning smile and, if that, not much else but an apparently spectacular ego. Maybe gals go for that these days…? (Then again, his career has never matched all the hype, so maybe they don’t after all.) The cast includes the marvellous Wm Macy, Frances Fisher, John Leguizamo, Bryan Cranston and Marisa Tomei. These last three could have been put to far better use; even Macy's part is too small for such a huge talent. Worst of all, the bewildered Ryan Phillippe's overacting is often very hard to bear.I don’t think it’s the contrast with my low expectations that made me so surprised about The Lincoln Lawyer. In fact, I found it turn into something of a winner: a tautly-plotted noirish California thriller with some suspense and a few interesting twists.Despite all my misgivings, it's a film to catch. My jury about McConaughey has just been sequestered for renewed deliberations: he’s no Mitchum, but he manages well in this role. I’m certainly also going to see what the director, Brad Furman, has put out, since in this he cobbles together something slick and worthy. Finally, but not least, I’m going to chase down Michael Connelly, the writer, who knows how to twist a plot into deft but plausible pretzels. Recommended.
joint 7.3
I saw the movie and I had liked it this is based on a true story this isnot for children to watch
Good movie. Lots of twists and turns. Matthew really shines in this one.
very good
This movie was OK. It got better in the second half. Matthew McConaughey plays a slick California lawyer. When he takes a case involving a rich young man accused of beating and raping a prostitute, he sees dollar signs. What seems like easy money ends up becoming complicated, then dangerous after his investigator is killed. In between working on the case he has an on-again, off-again relationship with his ex-wife (Marisa Tomei) with whom he shares a daughter. It was hard to care much for any of the characters. The urban soundtrack was one of the best parts of the movie.
the best lawyer/courtroom drama I have seen for many a year. Runs rings round any drama created from a grisham novel. Lots of twists and just when you think you have it sussed-you don't.
Tina R. Cooper says: "Loved it, from start to finish", and you we'll to! Justice can prevale!
Lots of twists. Good acting. Stylish plot.
