An Iowa corn farmer, hearing voices, interprets them as a command to build a baseball diamond in his fields; he does, and the Chicago Black Sox come.

"If you build it, he will come." is the quote most remembered about this film. Well I say "If you watch it, you will cheer." Kevin Costner did 5 sports themed movies. This is my most favorite, and I was an extra in one of the others, For Love of the Game.

My 10-year-old boy is a baseball lover. He loves the movie so much and is pursuing his baseball dream at the same time.

Love of baseball is the central theme, but the movie is not about baseball. It is about being true to one's nature. It is about second chances, and ultimately is about redemption. I highly recommend this movie, it would be great for a family movie night.

Field of Dreams is a whimsical fable - many people don't "get" this movie so be prepared for something a bit different.
