My prediction: Rachel and Trent end up together. Business as usual with the rest of the story. Glad to have the other shoe drop on the Jenks storyline.

This is such an enjoyable series! Rachel Mariana Morgan is a conflicted, impulsive, delightful character, with a heart of gold. There are so many excellent supporting characters in this series that a few of them could spin off into their own stories. Funny, frustrating, heartbreaking. . . I only wish SPL had the whole series. This is such an enjoyable series! Rachel Mariana Morgan is a conflicted, impulsive, delightful character, with a heart of gold. Like a textbook. Dry! I needed the friendlier version. This is more for hobbyists, and breeders. Great font of information, though.

Nice to see Andrea getting some play. She's a good character, and nicely reflects the schism happening in their world. Combining the two stories (there's also a Kate and Curran novella that ties in with the story) was an effective move to bring the multiple storylines together.
As usual, the Andrews team does a great job of fleshing out the back story-- with a wonderful little twist for Andrea near the end.Nice to see Andrea getting some play. Well, we knew what to expect with one of my fave characters, but I don't have to like it. Still enjoying the series, and still a GREAT read. Fun, fast-paced, and headed in a pretty obvious direction. I'm looking forward to seeing how Rachel handles what Harrison has planned for her. . .Well, we knew what to expect with one of my fave characters, but I don't have to like it. A whole lotta stuff's going on in this installation, so it seems like anything I say will be a spoiler. We find out some major backstory on Rachel (well, to be honest, Rachel does, too), and get a little more insight into Algaliarept, Newt, and Minias. Rachel/Ivy? Handling it. Liked the addition of Bis.

I like the puzzle theme. National Treasure meets Sigma Force. The Native American element is interesting.

Standard fare, but a great way to sample new writers and characters. I've picked up some new authors through these anthologies.

Well, not quite the objects I was prepared for, nor the perspective, either! Should've done my due diligence first. Still, 'twas a good, deliberate, skim. Glad to see that they chose to acknowledge more than the western world.

Well written, but not what I was expecting after reading "Shut Up, You're Fine". I expect that's a common enough complaint, and more's the pity if it is.

Feels like Connelly is nearing the end of Harry Bosch. I will miss Heironymous, if this is so. Great character, if a little pale in this rendering. Story is anemic, but with a powerhouse like Connelly writing, there is still plenty of texture to invite and satisfy.Feels like Connelly is nearing the end of Harry Bosch. This was light even for "light" reading. Lizzie and Diesel were both flat characters this time! Haven't noticed that in the other books. Nice switch-up to see Wolf show a little of his soft side, but it seemed formulaic to me. A kind of "Insert literary element here" move. Thankfully, Carl, as always, was a hoot. This was light even for "light" reading. Lizzie and Diesel were both flat characters this time! Haven't noticed that in the other books. Love it, love it, love it. Heard Ian speak on NPR about his research, and knew I had to read/do the book. Thoughtfully arranged, well presented. Everyone who rode in my car just sat quietly and listened. . . then discussed! Really fun with my 16 yo.
The compare/contrast style worked particularly well with this topic, as the enormous span of years could be difficult to present in a cogent manner. Bonus points for making what could have been REALLY dry reading so accessible.Love it, love it, love it. Heard Ian speak on NPR about his research, and knew I had to read/do the book.
