Well I am glad I finally read Nora Roberts as JD Robb. I wasn't enticed by the near future setting so have been avoiding it. Now that I have started, I don't want to stop. I love Eve Dallas! She is smart, sassy, inappropriate, irreverant, and the anti-politically correct! She has a soft side but visible only to a few. I started in the middle - can't wait to go back to the beginning. The near future setting was not distracting and even added to the story a little bit. Fun to imagine what it really might be like in 60 years. I also loved the supporting characters. This certainly isn't wonderful literary fiction but it was a great distraction from real life and I couldn't wait to get back to it. Listening to the audio version was a treat - complete with Irish accents! Loved it!Well I am glad I finally read Nora Roberts as JD Robb. A collection of humorous and thoughtful short stories about the lives of several folks in Dublin. An interesting, though somewhat depressing view of folks in Ireland. I was disappointed that so many of the stories featured infidelity. But they also featured some strong loyalties as well.A collection of humorous and thoughtful short stories about the lives of several folks in Dublin. a true story, very well written, about one particular incident of illegals trying to cross the Mexican/US border. No matter which side of the argument you are on, this is a fascinating read with some great statistics and facts. Not exactly a beach read but it was a decent business read. Good reminders about creating capacity in everything you do - from daily meetings, to project work, to your personal engagements and finances.

As usual Picoult tells a great story. I like the method she uses of telling the story from multiple voices. This is especially effective on audio when there are multiple narrators - great listening experience. However, I was not as compelled by this story as some of her other works. Maybe the topic - euthanasia - has been overdone? Maybe I just didn't like the characters as well? Not my favorite Picoult read but I'm not sorry I read it.As usual Picoult tells a great story. This is my favorite fiction novel by Ann Patchett, including State of Wonder. Great characters, as usual. Thought-provoking as well.

Not my favorite Nora Roberts title but it still has all the elements we love about Nora Roberts - love, friendship, suspense. I felt like she rushed the love story in this one, but I loved the Irish setting.

A very thought provoking book! Jonas is a 12 who is chosen for an extraordinary job but he then learns about all the things he and all his friends and family have been missing. This is a classic title worth the read!

Very cute story! fun dialog and great descriptions. Interesting characters whom we get to know through letters and notes to each other in a notebook Lily and Dash pass back and forth to each other. One note is that I didn't necessarily find the characters to be believable. They were very smart, poetry-reading, philosophy-touting teens. They were likable though and quirky.Very cute story! fun dialog and great descriptions. Rowell produces another fascinating Young Adult book! I love her characters and their voices. This one examines the life of a freshman in college, looking for herself and trying to face multiple issues including a crazy father, an absent mother, a twin sister with her own issues, and a new boyfriend to name a few. As a Midwesterner myself, I enjoyed the fact that it was set in Nebraska. I appreciated the pace of the book; it moved quickly and kept me wanting more.Rowell produces another fascinating Young Adult book! I love her characters and their voices. Hosseini is a masterful storyteller. He weaves such a magical tale and invites you in to experience the emotions of his characters. This was written in the style of multiple short stories connected through the various characters. It covers a 65 year span of time. You can sometimes get lost in the details or the flashbacks, but be patient. It is worth the ride!Hosseini is a masterful storyteller. A very difficult read that provides scary and sad insights into what American WWII POWs in Japan suffered and endured. This is a beautiful story, though, with the ending making it all worthwhile. I love books that make me want to go look up history and find out more about an event. Hillenbrand does a great job of personalizing this story and making the difficult facts easier to hear.A very difficult read that provides scary and sad insights into what American WWII POWs in Japan suffered and endured. Well, I was kind of disappointed with this one. I am a huge Cornwell and Parker fan. I love a good detective novel. Part of what I love is the moral code, though maybe slightly skewed, that they live by. While Thoft tried to make family loyalty that code, the family had some SERIOUS flaws and didn't seem to have very many redeeming qualities. Aside from the that the story was decent though dragged a little for a mystery novel.Well, I was kind of disappointed with this one. I am a huge Cornwell and Parker fan.
